How do I create my website?

Sign up at cms.topzite.net, pick a template, choose a subdomain (e.g., yourname.topzite.net), and you're in. From there you can start adding your content right away.

Do I need any technical skills?

Nope. If you can fill in a form and upload a photo, you can build a topzite site. No code, no design skills, no command line.

What kind of sites can I build?

topzite is built for:

  • Artists & creators — portfolio, gallery, blog
  • Makers & small businesses — product showcase, about page
  • Restaurants & cafes — menu, opening hours, map, reviews
  • Small businesses — anything that needs a clean online presence

topzite is a showcase and marketing platform — it's designed to present your work and help customers find you. It's not an online store and doesn't include shopping carts, checkout, or payment processing.

What's included?

Every site gets: a free yourname.topzite.net subdomain, HTTPS, global CDN, all templates, generous storage, built-in analytics, and the full CMS editor.

Can I sell products online through topzite?

No — topzite isn't an online store. There's no shopping cart, checkout, or payment processing. The "Products" section is for showcasing what you make or offer — think of it as a catalogue, not a shop. If you need ecommerce, platforms like Shopify or WooCommerce are better suited.

Adding Content

What content can I add?

Your site has several sections you can fill in:

  • Hero — the big banner at the top of your homepage (heading, tagline, image)
  • About — tell your story
  • Products — showcase your work with images, descriptions, and prices
  • Gallery — a photo gallery
  • Blog/News — write posts and updates
  • Menu — for restaurants and cafes (with dietary tags)
  • Testimonials — customer reviews and quotes
  • Contact — your email, phone, social links, and address

You can turn sections on or off in Site Settings — only show what you need.

How do I upload images?

Click the image upload area on any page that supports images (Hero, Products, Gallery, About). You can drag and drop or click to browse. Images are stored securely and served via CDN.

Use high-quality images (at least 1200px wide) for best results. JPG or PNG format.

Can I reorder my products or gallery items?

Yes — each item has a "Sort Order" field. Items are displayed from lowest to highest number. Use 1, 2, 3 etc. to control the order.

What's the text editor?

Longer text fields (like About and Blog posts) use a visual editor where you can bold, italic, add links, headings, and lists — just like writing in a document. You can also switch to HTML view if you know what you're doing.

Templates & Design

What templates are available?

We currently have 5 templates:

  • Coastal — light and breezy, ocean-inspired
  • Bold — dark and striking, high-contrast
  • Minimal — clean and simple, content-first
  • Earthy — warm and organic, natural tones
  • Shaper — deep navy and gold, premium craft feel

Can I change fonts and colours?

Yes! In Site Settings, you can override the heading font, body font, and key colours (primary, secondary, background, text). Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts — just type the name of any Google Font.

Browse fonts at fonts.google.com and copy the exact font name into your settings.

Can I switch templates after I've started?

Your content is separate from your template, so switching templates keeps all your content. Just go to Site Settings and pick a different template. Redeploy to see the change.

Can I upload a logo?

Yes — upload your logo in Site Settings. It'll appear in the navigation bar of your site.

Deploying Your Site

How do I publish my site?

Click the Deploy button in the CMS sidebar. Your site is rebuilt from scratch and published in about 30 seconds. You'll see a summary of what's changed before you deploy.

Do I need to deploy every time I change something?

Yes — topzite builds static sites, which means they're super fast and secure but need to be redeployed when content changes. Think of it as hitting "Publish" on a blog post.

How long does deploying take?

Usually 20–40 seconds. You'll see a progress indicator and a success message when it's done.

My changes aren't showing up?

Try these steps:

  1. Make sure you hit Save on your content before deploying
  2. Deploy your site (changes aren't live until you deploy)
  3. Hard-refresh your browser: Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac)
  4. Wait a minute — it can take a short time for the CDN to update

Custom Domains

Can I use my own domain name?

Yes! You can connect a domain you already own (like www.yourbusiness.com) to your topzite site. Go to Domain Settings in the CMS sidebar.

Where do I buy a domain?

We don't sell domains, but you can get one from any domain registrar. Popular options:

Most domains cost $10–15 per year.

How does it work?

The short version: you tell your domain registrar to point your domain to topzite, we set up HTTPS automatically, and your site starts working on your custom domain. The CMS walks you through it step by step.

Do I keep my free subdomain too?

Yes — your yourname.topzite.net subdomain always works, even after connecting a custom domain.

Widgets & Extras

How do I add customer reviews?

Go to Testimonials in the sidebar. Add each review with the person's name, their quote, a star rating (1–5), and optionally where it came from (e.g., "Google Review"). You can also add their photo.

To link to your full Google Reviews, paste your Google Maps business URL in Site Settings under "Google Reviews URL" — this adds a "See all reviews" button on your site.

How do I show a map on my contact page?

Just fill in the Address field on your Contact page. A Google Maps embed will automatically appear on your published site. Use your full address for best results.

How do I show opening hours?

Go to Hours in the sidebar and add an entry for each day of the week. Set the open/close times, and tick "Closed" for days you're not open. Enable "Show Opening Hours" in Site Settings.

Can I link my Instagram?

Yes — paste your Instagram profile URL in Site Settings under "Instagram Feed URL". This adds a "Follow us on Instagram" section to your homepage with a link to your profile.

How do I add a menu (for restaurants)?

Go to Menu in the sidebar. Add items with name, description, price, category (e.g., "Mains", "Drinks"), and optional dietary tags (GF, V, VG, DF). Enable "Show Menu" in Site Settings.

Account & Billing

How much does topzite cost?

$5 per month per site. No hidden fees, no setup costs. Every site gets all features — we don't gate anything behind tiers.

I forgot my password

Click "Forgot password?" on the login page. You'll receive a code via email to reset it.

Can I have multiple sites?

Yes — you can create as many sites as you need, each with its own subdomain, template, and content. Each additional site is $5/month.

How do I delete my site?

Contact us and we'll take care of it. We're working on a self-service option.
